Vincent Hamel has been painting monochromes in different colours and volumes for years. The tension in his work comes from the combination of colour, structure and spatial form; these three are a self-explanatory unit. Thus, the work comes toward us from the wall.

Colour and structure are built up of several layers that make themselves felt in the outermost surface. The purity is capable of evoking a meditative peace in the viewer, but also of producing a pronounced cheerfulness. The size of the works varies greatly, ranging from very small to very large. It is possible to create very exciting compositions that fill whole walls using combinations of several works. I would choose to call the artist’s use of colour lyrical.

Vincent Hamel’s work is an international climax in the worldwide monochrome movement due to his purity and continuous innovation.
